Brandi Hockett arrived in this world with a sword on her back, fighting to get whatever she needed to survive. By the age of five, she already knew her journey would be full of hardships and battles along the way. As her story unraveled, Brandi grew tough to survive. She always knew deep inside to keep pushing forward and hold a strong presence of God within her. She was kicked down many times, and by the age of 12, Brandi decided to be the only person responsible for her pain. She left home to create her own path; this path she walked and even crawled at times. The defeat to the streets buried the light deep inside of her. She had heartache after heartbreak too many times to count, and when it appeared, Brandi had nothing left in her – a sign from God revealed itself. This gave her enough strength to crawl, claw, and scratch her way out of the deep dark hole that she had jumped in. Many dead ends and wrong turn later, Brandi found the courage to change. The destructive path she was on was no longer an option.
Life is not a smooth ride. Each of us has to deal with a fair share of challenges that come our way but how we react to those hurdles decides who we become. IME by Brandi Hockett focuses on the notion of seeing difficult circumstances as a means to forge one into a stronger individual. It aims to encourage the readers never to lose hope. It opens the windows of a new perspective to see problems in different light-as an opportunity to learn, rectify and carve a better path for themselves.
I accidentally came across it because I intended to go for an entirely different genre. But…I am so glad my eyes went on this beautiful cover, and a little over a week later, I feel like a transformed person in every essence.
Many of Brandi’s life experiences have emulated my own. I expected that I would find IME just as appropriate and pertinent to my life. It left me speechless because my parents had repeated some of the things that is said in the book, but I chose to ignore them. Well, not anymore.
So thankful for the new technology of listening to books. I downloaded it and listened to it on the same day. Now, I take it everywhere on my rides to and from work. It really keeps me looking forward to a joyous day.
